Children and Families Sunday Program

We are delighted to offer this program!

This is a time for families to participate in mindfulness activities and the Shambhlala teachings together in a safe, fun and caring environment for children, or to attend the Sunday Morning Sit and Open House while your children participate in activities in the Community Room. Leslie Gossett, Director of Family and Children’s Programming for Northern County Shambhala, will be leading this program. She is magical with children! Volunteers are needed and welcomed to join in these playful activities.

This will occur in conjuction with the Sunday Morning Sit. The Sunday Morning Sit includes meditation followed by a group discussion. Meditation instruction is available each Sunday and new visitors are welcome.

  • Generally twice per month during the school year. Please check our Monthly Calendar to confirm dates
  • Families with children of all ages are welcome.
  • Caregivers with children who are 3 years of age and older are welcome to participate in the Sunday Morning Sit while their child attends activities. An adult who is responsible for each child must be present in the Center during the Sunday programming.
  • Caregivers with children 2 years and younger should plan to stay with their child throughout the morning. All caregivers are welcome to attend with their child; our goal is to have activities that are fun and engaging for the whole family.

If you are interested to learn more about the Family Council or the Sunday programming, have suggestions, want to make a donation to support child and family programming, wish to join the council, or are interested in volunteering to help Leslie on Sundays, we would love to hear from you.

The Program Price is $20 each Sunday per family for the fisrt child, plus $10 for each additional child attending from the same family. All children and families are welcome to attend whether or not they are able to make this contribution. We welcome donations that can support this and further the Children and Families programming.

We appreciate you registering and paying online. This helps us not only to plan for the program, but speeds up the registration line on the day of the program.

Generosity Policy
The San Francisco Shambhala Center is funded solely by your membership and program donations. Thank you for your generosity as you consider what you can pay for each program at our Center. We strive to price our programs in a way that accurately reflects the financial need of our Center and the cost to us of producing the program.

We are committed to offering our programs to everyone, regardless of their financial situation. If you are unable to meet any of our listed pricing tiers please contact us to discuss your current needs. In addition to offering scholarship pricing for those in need, we also offer the option of paying for some programs in installments.

In order to request use of the Generosity Policy, please contact the person listing under the program’s contact information, or email: info [at] sfshambhala [dot] org, at least one week prior to the program you wish to attend.

What is the Patron Price?
The other aspect of our Generosity Policy is our Patron Price. Those who are able to offer more than the regular program price can select the Patron Price option.  By selecting this option, your generosity is helping to cover the costs of those who may not be able to pay the full price of the program. Thank you for your consideration, and for helping all to receive the treasure of the Shambhala Dharma.
